Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth (1/5)
What do you think about the end of the Watchmen graphic novel (Contains spoilers)?
Contains spoilers. Do not read if you do not want to know about what happens! Just finished reading, and I was disappointed with the ending. I was expecting a big showdown instead of a wise moral discussion. I wanted to see the villain get what he deserved. Rorschach was also a brilliant character. Not satisfied with what happened with him. It was just like how George Lucas treated Bobba Fett in Return of the Jedi. Granted ending was clever, but I feel a little robbed. What do other people think?
I think in the end was fitting. The book never really follows the normal superhero story conventions, so there is really no need for a big showdown. Rorschach's death is equipment which is good. Watchmen is a self – history, there is no follow up or sequel, so it does not matter if he was not around for a second. Plus he died standing up for what his faith was. He was not going to stand for what Ozymandias did, so he had to die, because it kept secret.
