the bride's sword in Kill Bill is the same as used in Pulp Fiction to kill Zed's friend?
… that is what avid Tarantino film viewers middle of watching the film, was initially led to believe, based on conversation between Elle and Bud … before she surprised him with the poisonous snake, but in the last match between Elle and Kiddo, Bud sword was discovered, which suggests (and otherwise stated) that he lied about pawning his sword.

Pulp Fiction
$9.54 For many, Quentin Tarantino''s films, especially Pulp Fiction (1994), defined American cinema in the 1990s. The films are hard, fast, funny, stylish, and filled with clever allusions to other films and essential works of 90s chic postmodernism. In this book, Dana Polan sets out to unlock the style and technique of Pulp Fiction. He shows how broad Tarantino''s points of reference are, and analyzes the film''s considerable narrative accomplishment and complexity. In addition, Polan argues that the macho attitudes celebrated in the film are much more complex and fragile than they sometimes seem. |

Pulp Fiction
$11.88 Performers: Norman Knowles - SaxophoneThe soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's darkly funny crime classic Pulp Fiction manages to re-create the film's wildly careening sense of style, violence, and humor by concentrating on the surf music that comprises the bulk of the movie's incidental music and adding a few sexy oldies integral to the film's story ("Let's Stay Together," "Son of a Preacher Man," "You Never Can Tell"). Of course, the inclusion of dialogue and Urge Overkill's seductive cover of Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" doesn't hurt either. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide |

Pulp Fiction
$17.96 Writer-director Quentin Tarantino revisits the seedier side of Los Angeles--following 1992's RESERVOIR DOGS--with this funny, violent, tongue-in-cheek tribute to the less classic side of filmmaking--the potboilers and capers, the Blaxploitation flicks and gangster movies. The film interweaves three tales, told in a circular, fractured manner, which only fully connect by the time the final credits roll. The first story focuses on Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), two hit men on duty for the big boss, Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames), whose gorgeous wife, Mia (Uma Thurman), takes a liking to Vincent. In the second, a down-and-out pugilist (Bruce Willis), who is ordered to take a fall, decides that there's more money in doing the opposite. The final chapter follows a pair of lovers (Amanda Plummer and Tim Roth) as they prepare to hold up a diner.Tarantino wears his cinematic influences proudly, bringing them to life in the ironically hip, self-referential 1990s. The result is a work that changed the face of independent cinema forever, making it a legitimate player in the Hollywood mainstream. The all-star cast steps into their roles with obvious glee, and Tarantino once again uses his soundtrack to up the cool ante yet another notch, making for a motion picture event that has worked its way into our national vernacular. |

Pulp: Reading Popular Fiction
$25.81 Pulp brings together in one volume chapters on the bestseller, detective fiction, popular romance, science fiction and horror. It combines a lucid and accessible account of the cultural theories that have informed the study of popular fiction with detailed readings of particularly Jackie Collins, Jilly Cooper, Colin Dexter, William Gibson, Stephen King, Iain Banks, Terry McMillan and Walter Mosley. Scott McCracken argues that popular fiction serves a vital function in the late twentieth century: it provides us with the means to construct a workable sense of self in the face of the disorientating pressures of modernity. |

Original Soundtrack - Pulp Fiction
$8.81 Also available with RESERVOIR DOGS as a 2-CD set. This collector`s edition contains 4 additional tracks plus a bonus interview disc with director Quentin Tarantino.Pumped with the same sweaty adrenaline as the movie, the soundtrack for PULP FICTION is an audio example of why director Quentin Tarantino was the most talked-about filmmaker of the 1990s. Meshing snippets of dialogue with a diverse and powerful soundtrack, PULP FICTION is dripping with the same seedy tension that characterizes Tarantino`s films. There are moments of elegance too. Al Green`s luxurious "Let`s Stay Together" and Dusty Springfield`s throaty "Son of a Preacher Man" show that the heart of a romantic beats behind Tarantino`s mischievous grin. A generous sampling of surf rock from the likes of Dick Dale & his Del-Tones and the Tornadoes adds to the chaotic atmosphere of the three different stories within the film. The soundtrack for PULP FICTION is another homage to Tarantino`s great love affair with American rock. The tongue-in-cheek delivery of Neil Diamond`s "Girl You`ll Be a Woman Soon," as done by Urge Overkill, brushes against the lonely-criminal sentiment of Ricky Nelson`s gorgeous "Lonesome Town." Tarantino is definitely hip, and PULP FICTION`s soundtrack will make you respect his ear for detail even if you haven`t seen the film. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. Avenging Sword
$19.95 Mixing Romeo and Juliet and The Cross and the Switchblade, with some Pulp Fiction thrown in the mix, Avenging Sword continues the story began in Ms. Ravertas first book Shadow of Death, as Marlene comes to grips with how being a Christian affects her life and forcing her to ask tough questionsabut is she prepared for the tougher answers? This book takes place in West Chicago, where hatred and bigotry still exist in the present day. Here on the streets, semi-automatics now replace the chains and switchblades that terrorized the civilians in days past. Two predominant rival gangs demonstrate how their actions not only devour and destroy each other, but everyone who comes into their path. Old friends and new are affected in one way or another by the prejudice that plaques our society. Only through Godas love can they rid themselves of this cancer that has destroyed mankind for centuries. |

Lesbian Pulp Fiction
$16.48 Long before the rise of the modern gay movement, an unnoticed literary revolution was occurring between the covers of the cheaply produced lesbian pulp paperbacks of the post–World War II era. In 1950, publisher Fawcett Books founded its Gold Medal imprint, inaugurating the reign of lesbian pulp fiction. These were the books that small-town lesbians and prurient men bought by the millions — cheap, easy to find in drugstores, and immediately recognizable by their lurid covers: often a hard-looking brunette standing over a scantily clad blonde, or a man gazing in tormented lust at a lovely, unobtainable lesbian. For women leading straight lives, here was confirmation that they were not alone and that darkly glamorous, "gay" places like Greenwich Village existed. Some — especially those written by lesbians — offered sympathetic and realistic depictions of "life in the shadows," while others (no less fun to read now) were smutty, sensational tales of innocent girls led astray. In the overheated prose typical of the genre, this collection documents the emergence of a lesbian subculture in postwar America. |

Fascinating and informative, THE GREAT PULP HEROES is a lively and entertaining history of those fabulous characters, of the gaudy, glorious magazines that spawned them, and of the amazing wordsmiths who churned out their monthly adventures |

Pulp Science Fiction
$19.98 Pulp Science Fiction reads like a wild Saturday afternoon sci-fi double feature matinee from the "50s!" The passenger cleared his throat as he began his message. "Mom. Mom, it's me. I don't have a lot of time, so please listen to me carefully. I'm not at school. I'm on my way to Buffalo to meet a woman who can help me stop something unimaginable. Mom, you've got to get out of the condo. You've got to get out of Lawrence. Just grab what you can and hire a cab and head west, as far and as fast as you can go. There is going to be an explosion. An airplane with a bomb in it is going to kill you and everyone around you. Mom, you've got to believe me. Mom, get out of there! Mom." The passenger took a deep breath and continued. "Mom, something fantastic has happened to me. I don't know why or how, but it's been astonishing. Mom, I know we haven't talked about this much lately, but I love you and I want you to be okay." For the first time since his episode on the sidewalk, he shed a tear-not out of self-pity-but out of happiness, because for the first time he felt that he had something important to lose, and life suddenly mattered to him. |

Original Soundtrack - Pulp Fiction [PA]
$29.93 Also available with RESERVOIR DOGS as a 2-CD set. Pulp Writer
$19.95 He wrote under at least eight pseudonyms, published hundreds of short stories and novellas in pulp magazines, and lived a life at times as outrageous as his fiction. Pulp Writer tells of Paul S. Powerss travels from serious literary ambitions to the pages of Wild West Weekly , of his seeking his fortune (or material, at any rate) in the ghost towns and mining camps of Colorado, and of his life in Arizona and California as he reaped the rewards of his wildly successful Wild West Weekly characters such as Sonny Tabor and Kid Wolf. |

Pulp Culture
$10.6 Beginning with Dashiell Hammett testifying before Senator Joseph McCarthy, Pulp Culture pursues the lives and work of crime writers who approached the genre at street level: David Goodis, Chester Himes, Jim Thompson, Dorothy B Hughes, Dolores Hitchens, Leigh Brackett, Raymond Chandler, Mickey Spillane, Howard Browne, Gil Brewer, William B McGivern, Lionel White, Ross MacDonald, Horace McCoy, Charles Willeford and Charles Williams. Pulp Culture gives post-war crime fiction a political and irreverent reading, examining the politics of paranoia, private detection and criminality; the origins of crime fiction; the role of women in a male-dominated genre; and why the early 1960s marked the final days of classic hardboiled fiction. It also considers the genre's influence on contemporary crime writers and film-makers. Pulp Culture is essential reading for anyone interested in noir writing, films and the post-war era. |

Pulp Writer
$15.98 He wrote under at least eight pseudonyms, published hundreds of short stories and novellas in pulp magazines, and lived a life at times as outrageous as his fiction. Pulp Writer tells of Paul S. Powers’s travels from serious literary ambitions to the pages of Wild West Weekly, of his seeking his fortune (or material, at any rate) in the ghost towns and mining camps of Colorado, and of his life in Arizona and California as he reaped the rewards of his wildly successful Wild West Weekly characters such as Sonny Tabor and Kid Wolf. Extending from the Great Depression to the golden age of the pulps, Powers’s career, chronicled here in often laugh-out-loud style, is an American success story of true grit and commercial savvy and of a larger-than-life character with questionable but endlessly entertaining Western lore to spare. In the process, he provides a valuable and rarely-chronicled look at the business of writing and publishing pulp fiction during its golden years. Powers’s granddaughter Laurie never knew her grandfather and lost touch with his side of the family. In her biographical essays, she finds her lost family and discovers the Pulp Writer manuscript. Her essays also provide a valuable historical context for pulp publications such as Wild West Weekly and their importance during the Great Depression. |

Pulp Fiction [UMD]
$11.36 Writer-director Quentin Tarantino revisits the seedier side of Los Angeles--following 1992's RESERVOIR DOGS--with this funny, violent, tongue-in-cheek tribute to the less "classic" side of filmmaking--the potboilers and capers, the Blaxploitation flicks and gangster movies. The film interweaves three tales, told in a circular, fractured manner, which only fully connect by the time the final credits roll. The first story focuses on Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), two hit men on duty for "the big boss," Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames), whose gorgeous wife, Mia (Uma Thurman), takes a liking to Vincent. The all-star cast steps into their roles with obvious glee, and Tarantino once again uses his soundtrack to up the "cool" ante yet another notch, making for a motion picture event that has worked its way into our national vernacular.
